SHOW NOTES: In our HELP! SITUATION SPOTLIGHT™ series, we shine the light on challenges that community members have shared. This episode is, “Something AWESOME happened in my life! But no one else is happy for me.” 

Good times! Something AWESOME has happened! This is one of those moments that make life exquisite! CONGRATULATIONS! 

Yet, “no one else is happy” for you. So, the soaring joy you were feeling crashes and burns. Now, you are sad, disappointed and hurt. 

-Are you being accurate with the assertion that “no one” is happy for you? Are you taking for granted your grandparents (i.e., “they don’t count as they have to be nice to you.”)? If you have a grandmother that is genuinely happy for you, be grateful. She does not “have to” be happy for you and many people have grandmothers who aren’t.

-Are you hurt that “someone special” who you want to be happy for you isn’t (boss, new boyfriend, best friend, etc.)? Stop it. 

-Even if you authentically do not have anyone else who is happy for you (e.g., all of your relatives are dead, etc.), you are still inaccurate. You are a person and thus you are someone. Thus, at least one person is happy for you! Unless you are not happy for yourself. Are you happy for yourself? How did you celebrate with yourself? 

-No one has everything. Focusing on what you “don’t have” is a waste of [...]
